Royal Midwives Panel

Completed 2016

Launched 2018 at New Lanark exhibition entitled "The Making of The Great Tapestry of Scotland"

The panel celebrated the centenary of The Royal College of Midwives Scotland in 2015. It was opened by its former director Dr Gillian Smith MBE. Nearly every midwife in Scotland put a stitch into this panel. Led by Shiela Chambers, a retired midwife, the panel was taken around the country to visit the midwives. The first Stitch was put in by Princess Anne. It is was displayed at new Lanark as part of The Great Tapestry of Scotland.

The central image has a baby wrapped in a traditional shawl, supported by two midwives.
